Shift Happens: ALT Shift
Arts / Learning / Technology
Shift Happens will be returning to York Theatre Royal on 5th and 6th July 2010.
Booking has now opened for Shift Happens: ALT Shift please visit www.shift-happens.co.uk for more information.
Pilot Theatre's Shift Happens conference has convinced me that the success of the stage isn't just about new technologies but also people's shared passion for theatre... In a new social and cultural landscape, artists have to redefine cultural production and how people access it. All this will be a challenge, but an interesting one.
(Lyn Gardner)
Now in its third year, Shift Happens: The Arts and Technology Conference, is continuing to show Artists and Arts Organisations how to make the most of the growing opportunities which new technologies offer.
This year, our confirmed speakers include Creativity and Education Expert, Sir Ken Robinson; American artist and computer scientist, Jonathan Harris, whose work such as We Feel Fine, Lovelines and Wordcount aim to discover the soul of the Internet. Alice Greenwald, who is currently engaged as the 9/11 Museum Director which is soon to open in New York, David Sabel who is the Head of Digital Media at the National Theatre, and Ian Aspin, TV journalist, producer, presenter and business ideas person. We also have Lyn Gardner, Journalist, The Guardian; Tim Wheeler, Artistic Director, Mind The Gap; and Abhay Adhikari, Multimedia designer; Working towards Breath-awareness in mainstream education. More speakers are soon to be announced, but you can view our initial speaker list here.
Delegates can find out about the latest developments and applications in digital technology, try them out in workshops, discuss inspiring case studies, network, find partners for future collaborations and explore how working digitally can open up new areas of funding and sustainable approaches for organisations.
"Pilot Theatre are delighted to be bringing the third Shift Happens conference in partnership with York Theatre Royal and The Arts Council. We believe that Shift Happens provides a unique sharing of thoughts and ideas, and brings to York a unique set of thinkers and creative participants into the same room to address the possibilities and challenges that face us all."
