Shift Happens

In our awareness of being increasingly
a part of a global community, Pilot Theatre continues to embrace the
opportunities presented by digital technologies for connection,
engagement and distribution. The first Shift Happens conference in 2008
was a watershed event for the industry, we had speakers from the New York Met Opera and their live HD work as well as live links with Silicon Valley. This was followed with our Shift Happens 2.0 event in 2009, where we had speakers including Charles Leadbeater, Andy Hobsbawm, Lyn Gardner, Bill Thompson and DK, again with live links to Australia with Kate Foy and San Francisco with Janice Fraser We are
delighted to be developing this through an extended third event 5th-6th
July 2010. Where our speaker list already includes Sir Ken Robinson (World renowned expert on Creativity and author of The Element and Out of our minds) Jonathan Harris (We Feel Fine and Sputnik), Alice Greenwald (Museum Director 911 Memorial Museum NYC), David Sabel (Head of Digital Media, National Theatre), DK (Mediasnackers) and many more in the pipeline... The opportunities for
us to be able to connect and communicate and therefore engage with our
audiences, artists, staff and colleagues has never been greater. We
look forward to developing new creative partnerships and to embracing
the changes and shifts that will happen in the year ahead. It is the
duty of all not to stand still, but to be a part of developing thinking
and effecting change within the sector for the benefit of all. It is
why here at Pilot Theatre our mission of inspiring creativity is at
the core of all the work we do, and it informs all our practice.
